So, here I am, on this fancy new "Intar-web" thing all the young folk are talking about. Also, I am in the real world. Apparently I have never been there before. this may be the first time that someone has discovered both cyberspace and the real world simultaneously. Not that either place notices. To both of them, I am just a drop in the bucket, one of millions of people who are statistically like myself (within tolerable margins of error). Come to think of it, most of you reading this would likely be dumped in the same categories as me: overeducated, marginally intelligent, strange/geeky/weird interests and hobbies, and just out of college looking for work. Well, some of you have been at it a while longer than I. In fact, I hear that some of you are going back to grad school since you found the "Real world" not to be as fun. I cannot rescue you, but I shall honor your memory. By distracting the guards you have allowed me to escape.
Today, I got the first rest I've had in a long time (Miranda may disagree). We slept in till 10 or so, and did very little useful all day. After a 16 credit hour summer semester and then 2 hectic days moving, I could daresay use it. I marvel at my ability to rest. Just as I can pack a full semester's course load into a few months, I can pack a weeks vacation into a day. I have been here 24 hours, and have read 5 books. If only I were so talented at working. Wait. scratch that. If only I could get paid to read. I need to get paid for something.
Tomorrow the hunt begins. I have acquired basset hounds and several red coated englishmen to assist me in finding an apartment. I hate the fact that I graduated and moved back in with my mother. Not that I hate my family. I love them. I'd like to keep it that way by moving out as soon as possible. As for finding a Job, I have decided that the canvasing approach shall work best. AIA has a listing of all the architecture firms in St. Louis on their website. I shall print off their contact info and go through them until I am hired. I feel it is redundant to say I am optimistic. I moved here with no money, no house and no job. Of course I am optimistic. That or crazy. maybe both. Probably both.
